Food is fascinating in the way that it reveals how we all have such different tastes.

What is one person's idea of heaven on a plate could be somebody else's culinary nightmare, and a diet that sustains some perfectly well can end up being exactly the wrong thing for other people's bodies. Our taste in food may not be quite as unique as a fingerprint, but it is likely to be quite specific to us. We all have different ideas of the best ways to sustain ourselves.

As a result, many of us also differ in opinion on the best way to set up a kitchen. Some have every gadget going, others rely solely on the air fryer, and others still keep empty cupboards and spend most of their disposable income on DoorDash. We all have options when it comes to how to feed ourselves.

However, there is a strong argument to be made that learning at least some basic cooking skills is a pursuit that everybody should try. It is one of the simplest ways to ensure that your food bill is lower and your meals are (maybe) healthier, as well as enabling you an extra level of independence that is always useful to fall back on. It may be true that not everything that gets made in the kitchen turns into a success, but so long as we can laugh about it, there is no need to stress. Cooking memes are here to remind us that it's OK to play with our food.
